Legal
Privacy policy.
This policy explains what personal data is collected when you use this website, why it is collected, and the rights you hold over it under UK data protection law.
Effective date: 1 October 2026
1. Who we are
89 BOROUGH ROAD LETTINGS (NE) LTD. is a residential lettings and property management company registered in England. Our registered office and principal place of business is:
71 Borough Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3AA, England
The company is directed by Georgina Branson. For any matter relating to this policy or your personal data, contact us at hello@89boroughroadlettings.co.uk. We act as the data controller for personal data processed through this website.
2. What data we collect on this website
2.1 Information you send us directly
If you email us — for example to register as a landlord or tenant, to report a repair, or to ask a question — we receive the contents of your email, your name, your email address, and any telephone number or other details you choose to include. We use this information solely to respond to you and, where a business relationship follows, to conduct that relationship.
2.2 Server logs
Like almost every website, the server hosting this site automatically records technical information about each visit: your IP address, the browser and device you use, the pages requested, the referring page, and the time of the request. These logs are used for security monitoring, diagnosing faults and understanding aggregate traffic patterns. They are not used to identify individual visitors for marketing purposes.
2.3 Cookies and local storage
This site uses browser cookies and local storage, including a locally stored record of your cookie consent choice and, where advertising is displayed, cookies set by Microsoft Advertising as described below. Full details of the categories, purposes and durations are set out in our cookie policy.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and correspondence you send us.
- To provide lettings and property management services where a business relationship exists.
- To keep the website secure, available and functioning correctly.
- To measure and improve the website using aggregate, anonymised usage information.
- To display and measure advertising, only where you have consented to advertising cookies.
4. Embedded Google Maps
Our contact page embeds a Google Maps map so you can find our office at 71 Borough Road, Middlesbrough. When the map loads, your browser connects directly to Google, and Google may set its own cookies and process technical data such as your IP address in accordance with Google's privacy policy. We do not control this data collection. If you prefer not to load the map, you can contact us by email instead.
5. Microsoft Advertising
Pages on this site may display advertising served by Microsoft Advertising (Bing). Where you have consented to advertising cookies, Microsoft may set cookies on your device to measure ad delivery, limit how often you see an ad, and personalise the ads shown based on your browsing activity. Data collected in this way is processed by Microsoft as a separate data controller under its own privacy statement, which you can read at https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement. See our advertising policy for details of how to opt out of personalised advertising.
6. Sharing of personal data
We do not sell personal data. We share it only where necessary: with service providers who host or support this website (bound by their own data protection obligations), with Google and Microsoft as described above where you load embedded content or consent to advertising cookies, and with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it.
7. Data retention
Enquiry emails are retained for as long as needed to handle your request and, where a business relationship follows, for the life of that relationship plus the period required to meet legal, accounting and contractual obligations — generally no longer than six years after the relationship ends. Server logs are retained on a short rolling cycle, typically no more than twelve months. Cookie consent records are kept in your own browser's local storage until you clear them.
8. Your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances.
- Restriction and objection — ask us to limit or stop particular processing, including processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.
- Portability — receive certain data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@89boroughroadlettings.co.uk with the subject line "Data protection request". We will respond within one month.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at hello@89boroughroadlettings.co.uk so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if the way the website works changes, if we add or remove advertising partners, or if the law changes. The version published on this page, with its effective date at the top, is the one currently in force. Material changes will be highlighted on this page. This policy was last reviewed on 1 October 2026.
